About the role:
You will play a key role in delivering outstanding service to all Queenstown Lakes District Council leisure and recreation clients at the Wānaka Recreation Centre. You'll be responsible for managing sales, assisting with facility setups, and addressing customer inquiries in a friendly and efficient manner.

You’ll have at least two years’ experience in delivering a high level of customer service and will enjoy working with an energetic team who have a passion for sports, health and wellness. You will be an excellent communicator and always eager to help. Working calmly under pressure, you’ll also be experienced in dealing with customers’ feedback and working through solutions.

Hours of work:
We’re offering both part-time and casual roles to suit different lifestyles.
- Part-Time: Regular weekly roster, approximately minimum of 15 hours per week, with set shifts. Ideal for those wanting steady, predictable hours. Must be available to work evenings and weekends.
- Casual: Flexible shifts on an as-needed basis, with no guaranteed minimum hours. Perfect if you want occasional work that can fit around study, family, or other commitments.
- Shifts may include early mornings, afternoons, late evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
Responsibilities of the role:
- Providing information about memberships, programs, swim school, and our facilities
- Assisting with court bookings, payments and retail sales
- Assisting with practical tasks including set-up and pack-down of heavy sports equipment
- Undertaking facility tours, member inductions and ensuring members maximize the value they receive from their memberships/visits
- Maintaining cleanliness, presentation and safety of public areas
- Collaborate with lifeguards, instructors, and other team members to ensure smooth operations
What you'll bring:

- A positive, can-do attitude and a genuine love for helping people
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills, particularly in situations involving change, stress and conflict
- Confidence using technology including booking, membership and point of sales systems
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends
- NCEA Level 2 qualification
- Current First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain)
- Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise, direct and liaise with the public
