We’re seeking a Town Custodian & Gardener to join our dedicated team in Wanaka. Taking responsibility for horticulture work throughout our parks and reserves as well as managing the cleanliness of our town centre for both residents and visitors.

You’ll be no stranger to hands-on work and will enjoy the satisfaction that comes from seeing your work pay off. We are looking for candidates who have a genuine long-term interest in gardening and outdoor work, this role requires a level of passion and detail that is perfect for someone with long-term careerplans in this space. Ideally you will also have strong people skills and will enjoy speaking with the public to help resolve issues and inform them of what’s going on.
Due to the nature of this role, you’ll be required to work weekends, public holidays, and evenings on a rostered basis.

Responsibilities of the role:
- Ensuring Wānaka garden areas are kept in a clean and tidy condition, in accordance with approved horticultural practices.
- Identifying issues, defects and resolving these via own efforts or working with relevant contractors.
- Maintaining, renovating and developing shrub, flower and rose bed areas, weeding, leaf removal, mulching and spraying of weeds and for disease control.
- Using machinery, chemicals and a range of high-end equipment across a range of maintenance work.
