We’re seeking a dynamic individual to join our Sport & Recreation team at the Queenstown Events Centre, full-time. This role is crucial in maintaining the centre's overall presentation, smooth operation, & ensuring excellent customer service.

About the role:
As a Venue Support Crew member, you will work closely with the Venue Support Supervisor to maintain the safety and security of all users and visitors to the Queenstown Events Centre and other Sport and Recreation venues.

Responsibilities of the role:
  • Customer service: Ensuring high-quality customer service standards are maintained (in person and via phone), demonstrating excellent time management and reliability, understanding cultural differences, and providing excellent service to all customers.
  • Maintenance & venue support: Assisting with maintenance identification and repairs, carrying out room/court setups based on the daily event bookings and activities, ensuring over all cleanliness of QEC and overseeing the removal and disposal of rubbish and litter from surrounding areas including car parks and sports fields.
  • Venue management: Maintaining a safe environment by providing a regular presence in the car park and external areas, opening and closing for the whole facility , identify hazards and record / report appropriately
  • Adhoc: Supporting other teams during busy periods, cover breaks in various areas such as Pool, Customer Service, Venues, and Fitness, attending training, job-related meetings, Health & Safety meetings, carrying out evacuation training and Health & Safety inductions for new starters and performing building and equipment checks as per Health and Safety requirements.

What you'll bring:
You’ll be self-motivated and will work well within our positive and energetic team environment. You’ll be able to demonstrate outstanding customer service skills, be committed to maintaining a professional looking venue and have excellent communication skills. If you have a background in customer service, hospitality, retail, grounds or caretaking and enjoy hands-on tasks then this role may be for you.

To best succeed in this role, you’ll have:
  • A passion for sports, health and wellness
  • Prior experience in a customer facing role
  • NCEA Level 3 in Sports and Recreation, or a relevant Trade is desirable but not essential
  • A current first aid certificate, fire warden and staff safety training is desirable (we can assist to you gain this)
  • A highly motivated, achievement orientated and innovative approach
  • A current and valid drivers licence
