You will be responsible for administering the requirements of the Building Act 2004, the Building Regulations and the New Zealand Building Code, in accordance with the QLDC Policies and Procedures.

About the role:
You will be responsible for administering the requirements of the Building Act 2004, the Building Regulations and the New Zealand Building Code, in accordance with the QLDC Policies and Procedures.
Responsibilities of the role:
- Assisting the Team Leader of Inspections in guiding the team, handling complex cases, dispute resolution, and managing inspection contractors.
- Providing technical advice, acting as a leader in enforcement functions, and stepping into the Team Leader's role when needed.
- Ensuring thorough inspections of construction and plumbing work, addressing non-compliance and documenting findings.
- Processing building consents, issuing compliance documentation, and administering regulations under relevant building laws.
- Maintaining accurate records, support professional development, and contribute to the quality management system.

What you'll bring:
You will have at least 5 years of experience in building control and will have a solid understanding of legislative documents such as the Building Act 2004. You will have the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders and gain their respect and trust.
To best succeed in this role, you’ll have:
- An appropriate New Zealand qualification relating to Building Controls (or be working towards one).
- Sound knowledge of building industry legislation and related New Zealand standards.
- Proven ability to work without supervision; effective time management and strong organisational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
