About the role:
You will be required to carry out the maintenance of amenity gardens in Queenstown, Arrowtown and other QLDC sites, including Queenstown Gardens. You will be using a wide variety of horticultural skills and will assist in all aspects of garden maintenance.

Responsibilities of the role:
  • Ensuring Wakatipu Garden areas, including the Queenstown Gardens, are maintained to a high standard using horticultural best practice.
  • Maintaining shrub, flower and rose and annual bed and other garden areas to industry standard.
  • Assisting with new garden planting and enhancement.
  • Assisting with maintenance of irrigation ensuring optimal performance
  • Complying with and supporting QLDC health and safety policies and procedures and actively participate in health and safety activities as appropriate.

What you'll bring:
You’ll have a minimum Level 2 Certificate in Horticulture (or equivalent) or 2+ years’ experience in amenity horticulture, with a Class 1 NZ driver’s licence (essential). You’ll be a team player with great communication skills, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic.

It would be desirable to have:
  • A current first aid certificate
  • W Endorsement Licence, Growsafe certification
  • Class 2 drivers licence and 
  • The ability to drive a manual vehicle.
