About the role:
Located in Queenstown and reporting to the Strategy Planning Manager (Three Waters), this role is responsible for technical network and facility (such as treatment plants, pumping stations) level input into the strategic and longer-term infrastructure planning for QLDC’s Property and Infrastructure (P&I) Directorate asset portfolio for Three Waters.

About the role:
Located in Queenstown and reporting to the Strategy Planning Manager (Three Waters), this role is responsible for technical network and facility (such as treatment plants, pumping stations) level input into the strategic and longer-term infrastructure planning for QLDC’s Property and Infrastructure (P&I) Directorate asset portfolio for Three Waters.
Responsibilities of the role:
- Utilise the available resources (process, systems) to deliver infrastructure planning solutions.
- Provide engineering technical advice and subject matter expertise into Council’s Spatial Growth Planning, the 30-Year Infrastructure Strategy and masterplans.
- Provide engineering technical advice and subject matter expertise to develop and maintain the improvement programme/projects of work which captures the priority and sequencing of the discrete phases within the programmes and projects needed to achieve the masterplan.
- Manage and deliver the work for the feasibility/option and concept design phases for infrastructure, demand management and storm water management projects and the delivery of investigations, trials and studies as necessary.
- Specify the tools needed for infrastructure planning (systems, models, analytical and decision-making tools, data).

You will bring proven leadership expertise along with strategic three watersinfrastructure planning experience. Experience in strategic infrastructure-related Better Business Cases is essential, along with a drive to deliver excellence and foster innovation.
To best succeed in this role, you’ll have:
- Engineering degree (must be Bachelor’s degree) with extensive Three Waters experience
- A strong understanding of three waters engineering, current industry practice, urban planning policies, local and national government legislation, council practices and constraints
- Knowledge and experience with the application of project management methodologies (e.g. Prince2, PMBOK).
- Strong technical, analytical, verbal and reporting skills.
- Strategic Three Waters or infrastructure-related Better Business Case experience.
- Excellent people and communication skills, and a strong customer ethos
- Highly motivated, achievement-orientated and innovative professional.
