Our Libraries team is made up of dedicated, passionate individuals who enjoy working with & for our community. We’re seeking a Digital Services Librarian to join our team working from the district’s central branches at Frankton, Queenstown & Wānaka.

Employing over 600 people in one of the most stunning locations in the country, Queenstown Lakes District Council is at the very heart of a dynamic community. Our services are essential to the people in our region and include infrastructure development, community recreational facilities and planning, building and other regulatory services.

We’re proud to be QLDC, and in response to the growth the district has experienced over recent years, QLDC has itself experienced substantial growth. We genuinely believe in developing our people and providing them with all the tools and opportunities needed to succeed.

About the role:
You will be responsible for the delivery of a high-quality digital interface and information service to the Queenstown Lakes District community. This will include development, implementation and monitoring of the website, social media, promotional platforms, the library management system and associated library technology. This collaborative role supports our strategy to enhance digital access and inclusion, working with the Library Leadership and Specialist Teams to promote literacy and community engagement. You’ll engage with our diverse community and key stakeholders, ensuring our digital services meet their needs while strengthening partnerships across the district.

Responsibilities of the role:
  • Managing the Library Management System (LMS), ensuring smooth operations, consistent practices, and timely support for staff and users.
  • Overseeing the library’s online presence, ensuring usability, accessibility, and engagement through effective website and social media strategies.
  • Delivering cohesive marketing plans, creating promotional content, and reflect the district’s multicultural and kaupapa Māori values in all digital and print communications.
  • Providing excellent digital support, resolving queries, and analysing data to optimise services. Champion equity, inclusion, and sustainability in all digital initiatives.

What you'll bring to the role:
You will have at least 3 years of relevant library experience. 2 plus years of experience working in marketing or a related field will be advantageous. You’ll have excellent communication and writing skills, a flair for audience-targeted marketing, and the ability to support diverse learning needs and cultural communities effectively.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field
  • Experience using the content management system, Umbraco, the graphic design tool, Canva and Microsoft Teams and its tools
  • Digital/technical competence to a high level, with a sound understanding and practical experience of digital tools and digital literacy and an interest in emerging technologies
  • Experience with a library management system, library resources and information retrieval – skilled in using print and digital resources and able to effectively share information with others, including understanding different learning styles
