What does a Support Worker do? | He aha te mahi a te Kaimahi Tautoko
We are looking for an energetic and motivated team leader for our Intensive support service for our Tamariki in Whanganui. You will lead a team in supporting our young people to live as independently as possible whilst also providing a safe environment where they can develop confidence, build friendships, and interact within the community.
A Team Leader assists people with disabilities to live as independently as possible, as well as leading and motivating their team. Your day will involve a range of responsibilities and could include:
There will be a mixture of morning, afternoon, and evening shifts spanning across the week, so having the flexibility to support your team across a variety of shifts is a key part of this role.

- Activities at home and in the community that are meaningful and purposeful to the people, including maximizing independence and involving Whānau.
- Household duties including meal preparation, daily care routines, and personal cares.
- Working together with a team to implement personal support plans consistently, with effective and positive teamwork and communication.
- Providing people with a warm and nurturing environment to live in, which is inclusive of ideas and feedback so that each person is supported towards their personal goals.
There will be a mixture of morning, afternoon, and evening shifts spanning across the week, so having the flexibility to support your team across a variety of shifts is a key part of this role.

- Earn competitive pay rates between $23.38 -$30.10 per hour plus allowance for Team Leader duties.

Who are we looking for? | Ko wai ta tatou e rapu ana
- Relevant caregiving experience with youth and young adults
- Ideally leadership experience, or a genuine desire to develop your leadership expertise.
- Ability to tailor your leadership approach to meet individual learning styles.
- A warm, calm, and friendly personality with a passion for supporting people to achieve positive outcomes for themselves.
- A full NZ Driver License and ability to transport passengers confidently and safely in our disability vans.
