We’re looking for a number of Climbing Instructors to join our dynamic team based at the Queenstown Event Centre. A variety of shift arrangements (part-time, casual, fixed term) are on offer so read more and apply now!

About the role:
You will be responsible for ensuring the safe and enjoyable delivery of instructor supervised climbing sessions at the Rockatipu Climbing Wall and will oversee the day to day operation of the wall to the highest recognised safety standards and guidelines. Working closely with the Recreation Programmes Coordinator, you’ll develop and run climbing programmes for both climbing groups and the wider community.
Position 1: Part time basis working 30 hours per week
Position 2: Casual basis
Position 3: Fixed term contract working 35 hours per week from 20th November 2024 – 26th February 2025
Responsibilities of the role:
What you'll bring:
You will have 1+ years experience in the supervision of a climbing wall and will have proven experience in working with kids of different ages and abilities. You will have a high level of personal and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to positively resolve any customer issues.

Responsibilities of the role:
- Supervising, planning and teaching kids climbing classes with objectives, skills, safety and weekly challenges, fit for different levels and classes.
- Supervising external equipment brought in by climbers.
- Weekly safety inspection of all equipment.
- Maximising public enjoyment by providing a consistent and high standard of customer service in a friendly and helpful manner
What you'll bring:
You will have 1+ years experience in the supervision of a climbing wall and will have proven experience in working with kids of different ages and abilities. You will have a high level of personal and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to positively resolve any customer issues.
- A current Comprehensive First Aid Certificate or be willing to sit one.
- A current New Zealand Outdoor Instructor association (NZOIA) Rock 1, Rock 2, Alpine 2, Gym Instructor, New Zealand Mountain Guides Association (NZMGA), UIAGM Mountain Guide or an overseas equivalent
- Experience in climbing safety techniques.
- Experience in other recreation and leisure industry would be an advantage.
