What does a Support Worker do? | He aha te mahi a te Kaimahi Tautoko
We are seeking two permanent, part-time Support Workers to work different shifts alongside a 9-year-old boy with autisum in the Napier area. 

These staff will be important in enabling him to try different activities, get out and about in the community and act as role models.

As the Support Worker you will need to be able to support him with activities around home and in the community, including:

  • Learning to participate and gain independence - such as developing basic living skills.
  • Assist, and sometimes transport, him independently to and from community activities.

The ideal candidate will be a great communicator and an energetic person, with experience working in the disability sector and/or with tamariki, who is able to commit to providing this support on a longterm basis.

Support days and times can be flexible for the right person!

Who are we looking for? | Ko wai ta tatou e rapu ana
  • A desire to support people to learn new skills and achieve outcomes
  • Practical knowledge/understanding of autism
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Full driver's license and your own vehicle is essential.
  • Previous experience working with youth and/or in the disability sector is preferred.

Empathy, respect, and cultural awareness is important in this role as the people we support come from diverse backgrounds with varying needs and interests.
